What works with no account
- Opening a video or audio file from your computer, Chromebook or phone.
- On-device transcription with Whisper, as often as you like, in 22 languages.
- All ten caption styles and every setting: font size, colors, outline, highlight, animation and position.
- Fixing words, timing and caption breaks, with a preview of the finished video.
When an account comes in
Downloading the result needs a free account, made with Google or an email link in a few seconds. The project waits in your browser while you sign in, so nothing is lost. The free plan has no end date, and it adds 10 minutes a month of cloud transcription for 90+ languages.
A free account stores your email address and how many cloud minutes you've used. Projects stay in your browser unless you choose Creator, which syncs them between devices.
Options that never ask for an account
- Desktop Whisper apps such as Subtitle Edit and Buzz run offline and make subtitle files. They don't animate captions or burn them into the video.
- CueSprint: No sign-up, no watermark; MP4, MOV or WebM up to 3 minutes, as its site says, checked 29 October 2026.
- The captions built into TikTok and Instagram, which use the account you already post with.
Questions
Do I need an account to try Cuecaps?
No. The whole studio works without one, including transcription and every style. You sign up only to download the file.
Is the free account free forever?
Yes. The free plan has no end date and no card on file.
Does Cuecaps upload my video?
No. The video is read and rendered in your browser. Cloud transcription, if you choose it, sends only compressed speech audio, which is deleted right after.
