High-stroke styles that survive muzzle flash and bright maps
Standard thin captions vanish over explosions, bright skyboxes and particle effects. Gaming clips need heavy stroke outlines, solid offset shadows or opaque backing cards. You can also boost the outline thickness slider under Text for maximum contrast.

Fast callouts, background game audio and emphasis
During tense clutches and rapid callouts, five-word sentences lag behind the action. Set max words per caption to two or three, and lower the pause threshold under Layout so every quick breath starts a fresh, punchy pop-in.
When game sound effects, Discord laughter and music sit underneath your mic track, switch Find words to Cloud transcription (ElevenLabs Scribe v2), which separates speech from heavy game audio far better than local models. Press E on loud reactions or numbers to trigger red/green emphasised word wiggles.
Positioning around health bars, minimaps and facecams
In vertical 9:16 gaming cuts (where a facecam sits at the top and gameplay fills the bottom), drag your captions right onto the border between your facecam and gameplay, or into an open band clear of your crosshair, kill feed and ammo counter.
- Drop your 30 or 60 fps highlight clip into Cuecaps.
- Run Cloud transcription for loud game audio, or On-device if you recorded a clean isolated mic track.
- Choose Comic, Rounded or Bold, cap length at 2–3 words, and drag the caption block clear of your HUD and crosshair.
- Export at 60 fps as a 9:16 MP4 for Shorts/TikTok, 16:9 for YouTube, or a Transparent MOV/WebM overlay for your NLE.
Questions
Will transcription work when loud game audio or music plays behind my voice?
Yes—use Cloud transcription (ElevenLabs Scribe v2), which is resilient against gunshots, game SFX and background music. If you record your microphone onto a separate audio track in OBS, you can also drop that clean mic track directly into Cuecaps.
Does Cuecaps support 60 fps gaming exports?
Yes. You can export burned-in MP4s and transparent MOV/WebM overlays at 60 fps (up to 1080p on Free/Creator and up to 4K 60 fps on Pro) so your gameplay stays smooth.
Can I emphasize specific callouts or funny reactions?
Select any word in the transcript and press E. In the Comic preset, emphasised words turn red, scale up and wiggle; in Bold, they pop in bright green.
